Bon Accord Accountancy in new hands
Seamless transfer of ownership to Mackay Johnson
Accountancy firm Bon Accord Accountancy, based at North Ness Business Park in Lerwick, is pleased to announce a forthcoming change in ownership.
From 1 July 2025, the Shetland branch of the practice will become Mackay Johnson through a smooth transition which sees current owner Allan Jamieson stepping into a well-earned retirement.

The business will be taken forward by long-standing team members Robbie Mackay and Denise Johnson, both of whom are fully qualified chartered accountants and have spent their entire professional careers with the firm. With a combined 30 years of experience, they bring continuity, deep local knowledge, and trusted relationships with clients across Shetland’s community and industry sectors.
“Our clients can expect the same personal, professional service,” said Denise. “This is a continuation, not a change. We’re proud to carry the business forward in the same spirit it was founded by Allan Jamieson in 1998.”
“Allan has been a steady hand and mentor, he will leave an enduring legacy” said Robbie. “His professionalism and commitment to both clients and staff have shaped the business into what it is today. His contribution to accountancy in Shetland will be felt for many years to come.”
Allan Jamieson said: “Robbie and Denise have an in-depth knowledge of our clients and how the business runs day to day. They’ve grown with the firm, and I’ve seen them become skilled professionals who understand our clients’ needs. I’m confident the business is in very safe and capable hands.”
The firm’s 11 employees will remain in their roles, ensuring clients continue to receive the same support from the familiar team they know and trust.
In line with the firm’s long-standing commitment to growing its own people, the new leadership will continue investing in the next generation — bringing in young school leavers and graduates and supporting their growth within the company.
“We’ve always believed in building from within,” added Robbie. “Just as we were supported through our training, we will continue to provide training opportunities for new recruits for the future of the business and accountancy in Shetland.”
Mackay Johnson remains committed to supporting a broad mix of clients—from traditional Shetland industries to new and emerging sectors—offering expert guidance at every stage of their journey.
For clients, contacts, and colleagues, it’s business as usual — with familiar faces and safe hands leading the way forward.
